For Educators: Overview
The FASTRAC program performs outreach in two forms: Public Outreach and
Educational
Outreach. Public Outreach consists of information that is intended for the
general interested public such as information about our satellite goals, design,
and mission. Public outreach is performed in many ways. Some of these are
the active maintenance and support of this web site, the engagement of the
amateur radio community, and the invitation to have the public track and upload
data from the satellites to assist in the science return of the mission. Educational
outreach is intended primarily for educational purposes. Examples of educational
outreach include giving presentations at K-12 schools, the development of
lessons plans for K-12 classes related to this mission that are provided on
this web site (these lesson plans are targeted to appropriate educational
levels such as elementary, middle, and high school science classes), and engineering
design documents, papers, and presentations that are available to assist college-level
engineering departments in performing similar projects.
