Our Satellites: Overview
FASTRAC is a 30 kg (66.14 lbs) twin satellite mission that will separate in low earth orbit and conduct operations vital to a satellite formation mission. Due to the high cost of lifting mass into orbit (~ $1000 per pound), there is a strong initiative to miniaturize the overall weight of spacecraft. Also, the utilization of formations of satellites, in place of large single satellites, reduces the risk of single point failure and allows for the use of low cost hardware.
